Online Real Money Poker - Watch Out For These Common Scams

When gambling games moved from traditional casinos to the Internet, the scams associated with a certain phenomenally popular card game didn't just fade away.
Online scams took on a different form and appearance and continue to exist to this day.
Here are some of the scams you might encounter in online poker rooms.
First, what about the site itself? Some sites dedicated to the game are said to be run by dubious organizations.
As every site knows the cards of all its players, from a technical point of view it would be very easy for the site owner to participate in the games at his site while seeing every other player's cards.
With this decisive edge he can easily take everyone's money.
To avoid this problem, make sure you play at the most reputable sites only.
These sites are monitored by professional players using statistical analysis software and any anomaly is reported on industry forums.
A scam you might encounter even at the top poker sites is collusion among regular players.
These players might interact with each other over the phone or instant messaging systems and exchange information about what cards they hold, allowing them to gain an edge on everyone else.
Communication is not always necessary though; in tournaments, one player might intentionally lose all his chips to his partner in crime, just to give him a greatly increased chance to win the tournament.
When you detect or suspect collusion, immediately report it to the site.
Bots are another major threat to the online real money gambling world.
Bots are software programs that act on behalf of the player.
You could go to sleep and leave your bots up and running for you and no one would notice any difference.
Fortunately, most bots that are available for sale are losing or break-even players except at very low limits.
There have been some isolated reports of consistently winning bots being observed; advances in the area of artificial intelligence might one day make winning poker bots commonplace.
You can usually detect a bot because it plays very predictably and almost never chats.
If you are a very good player, you might be able to trick a bot into losing money because it plays such a predictable game.
But average and bad players will suffer greatly from bots and might lose all their money sooner rather than later.
